All STSM applications must be made through the e-COST tool managed by the COST office.
General information about the terms and conditions of STSMs can be found in Chapter 4 of the COST Vademecum.
In addition, Action IC0801 on Agreement Technologies makes the following recommendations:
- The application should be made in accordance with Section 4.10.1 and 4.10.2 of the COST Vademecum. The formal STSM application mentioned in Section 4.10.2 should be sent to the future Host institution of the STSM as well as to our Action’s STSM coordinator (Professor Vicent Botti) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Both early-stage researchers (postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows) and senior researchers who comply with Sections 4.2 and 4.3 of the COST Vademecum are eligible for STSMs. The former are particularly encouraged to apply. The Action is committed to the promotion of gender balance also with regard to its STSM programme.
- In general, the financial support of an STSM covers its overall cost only partially, and requests should take into account the planned duration of the stay. For host institutions in COST countries, the Action’s financial support for “long-term” STSMs (see Section 4.4 of the COST Vademecum) usually does not exceed 2.000 €.
- STSMs in Action IC0801 are associated to WGs. The applicant should request approval by the chair(s) of the WG(s) that s/he would like to associate an application with and should mention this explicitly in the Work Plan Summary of the application.
