The workshop SPOT - “Trust and Privacy on the Social and Semantic Web” was successfully held at this year’s European Semantic Web conference. There have been 10 research talks and one demo with topics spanning from applying semantic technologies for privacy protection to protecting social data on the Semantic Web. Piero Bonatti gave an impressive keynote speech introducing the logical foundations of policy languages as well as their applications to the Semantic Web and usability issues. Piero also pointed out future directions for research in this topic. The research talks, partitioned into four sessions, often lead to fruitful discussions; for instance on usability in contrast to expressiveness of privacy protection mechanisms. Some talks also nicely revealed lacks of privacy in the way the Semantic Web as well as Social Platforms are currently used. The program including all the slides is available online at
