End Date: 2012-06-30

Host Institution: Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Host Country: Poland

Home Institution: University of Novi Sad

Home Country: Serbia

Description:

The main idea of the visit is:
- Review of current research activities and project at host Institutions in the domain of agent technology and e-learning environments.
- Review of current state-of-the-art in the field using ontologies in e-learning environments.
- Definition of particular application of agents and ontologies in our own e-learning environment.
- Discussion of possibilities for further cooperation between the three institutions.
First week (in Warsaw at the SRI PAS, Marcin Paprzycki):
Becoming acquainted and analyzing different projects and research activities (their goals, deliverables and obtained results and impacts) in the intersection of the following domains: agent technology, e-learning, ontologies, semantic data processing. In particular, the SRI PAS project: Agent-Based Adaptive Learning in a Virtual Organization. Colleagues from host institution have significant experience in designing of a learning provisioning subsystem for an agent-based virtual organization. Flexible delivery of learning content is based on matching of ontologically demarcated user profiles, domain specific knowledge and learning modules. In their research they combined different agent roles with domain ontologies. Their results and experience could have significant influence to further development of our e-learning environment.
Joint work will be realized through analyzing different papers, joint discussions and meetings, and brainstorming sessions.

Second week (at the University of Gdansk, Maria Ganzha):
Certain time will be devoted to finding, collecting and analyzing different closely related papers.
Intensive discussions will be realized with colleagues from the host institution in order to precise details of particular application of agents and ontologies in our own e-learning environment.
Also we will discuss different possibilities for further cooperation between the three institutions.
